UK EXPORTS GARBAGE TO TURKEY.
NOT OK FOR THE BRITISH. NOT OK FOR THE TURKS.

Tesco, a love brand that has withdrawn from the Turkish market is rumoured to re-enter. They kind of have…
In 2021, Tesco started collecting soft plastics in their stores to be recycled. Despite selling illusion of “recycling plastics” to its consumers,
their tagged plastic bags ended up in illegal dump sites in Turkey.

GREENPEACE UK AND
GREENPEACE TURKEY JOIN UP.

According to Greenpeace, The UK shipped an average of 575 tons of plastic rubbish to Turkey every day in 2020. Waste plastic trade is a $50 billion global trade. So the responsibility for dealing with this hard-to-process trash is passed on to poorer nations and strains their waste-disposal infrastructure. This needs to stop.

WHAT DID WE DO?

To end this hypocrisy, Greenpeace started a petition campaign about the complete ban of UK’s plastic waste export. Their website is available at bukimincopu.org. So we did an outdoor and print campaign to create awareness for this plastic waste problem and
ask for public support.
